I personally enjoy all the Little Pepper series and wanted to get all of them I could for my children. The main books are my favorites with these extra books about the boys being not quite as good. I still like them though for their positive attitudes and window into the lifestyles of their time. For the jaded reader, these books are not for you; but for those of you who like sweet old fashioned stories, the Pepper books about a poor family of children who love and support each other and their widowed mother through difficult times and who eventually find better times and happiness are a charming read. I read all of these growing up - some of them several times - and I still think they are fun to read to my children.Product details

Great Classic for free. only wish they had the whole Pepper set!
And remains so, for me, since childhood, and now as an older adult. Love this lady's writing! Couldn't put it down! I think all children should be allowed to read this series.
Although this was an overall good book, it drug on, and on. like an ongoing movie that should`ve concluded 6 chapters back. i am giving this a four bc i did enjoy their adventures.
The Pepper stories are one of my favorites since childhood days. I happily recommend them to anyone..Glad they are made into e books. Look for the rest of the series. Good reading for all ages.
Great, clean literature for children. So much better and more educational than anything that the authors are producing today.
I love books like Caddie Woodlawn and Anne of Gree Gables and Five little Peppers and how they grew, but the numerous adventures of the pepper children are getting tiresome.
These characters were charming and likeble in the first book when they were little kids, but now that Polly and Be are in their teen years and little Phronsie is at least 8, they are terribly immature, theres a scene in paticular where Joel steals a key from the butler and as this scene contimued I found myself raising an eyebrow thinking to myself "what a brat" characters should have flaws but they shouldn't drive the reader crazy and as with Caddie Woodlawn and Anne Shirley they should learn from their mistakes and grow as a person, the Peppers and their friends do not, after the first book the only one that I would suggest is grown up because they are adults and far more mature though the story is still just as preictable.
Which brings me to the other problem with the books the story is so boring, th author tries to put some real problems in these characters lives but she fails. Maybe if the reader was under ten they would actually think something exciting is going to happen but if I know exactly whats going to happen in the story whats the point? And as each book goes by I personally am becoming more and more annoyed by thses characters Phronsie could die of a horribly painful disese and I wouldn't care, and if you've read the first chapter of any of these books you can guess that nothing seious is going to happen to them, no nothing ever happens to Phronsie past when she's sick in the first book. All in all I'd say unless you plan on reading these books with your kid I wouldn't suggest anything past the first book.
